Vintage 1950’s Navajo coin silver necklace entirely handcrafted from coin silver, including the Naja pendant, and set with a single Kingman turquoise stone. This unique variation of the traditional squash blossom design is crafted from coin silver, typically 90% pure silver (.900 fineness). Early Navajo silversmiths often melted down United States coins into ingots or repurposed them directly into jewelry, giving these pieces historical and material significance. The central crescent-shaped Naja pendant is hand-hammered and features a prominent teardrop Kingman turquoise stone from Arizona. The bench beads, often referred to as “desert pearls,” are handmade by soldering together domed coins, such as Mercury dimes. Instead of traditional squash blossoms, this necklace incorporates Walking Liberty Half Dollars (minted 1916–1947) as side accents. Similar vintage coin silver necklaces typically measure between 24 and 28 inches in length. Heavier examples, often exceeding 200 grams, are especially desirable among collectors.
